RENEW Northeast (“RENEW”), an association of environmental advocates and developers and operators of clean energy projects, remarks on the Massachusetts House of Representatives’ passage of H.5151, An Act relative to energy affordability, clean power and economic competitiveness. RENEW commends the House for its work to bring clean energy to consumers in the most affordable way.
“We are pleased that the House preserved the viability of the competitively selected offshore wind projects and rejected proposals that would have imposed barriers to energy storage deployment,” said Francis Pullaro, President of RENEW Northeast.
With the legislation now moving to the Senate, RENEW looks forward to continuing its advocacy efforts to strengthen the bill’s new approach to how clean energy is procured by ensuring existing clean energy requirements remain in place until the model is implemented and that the new model continues to give investors confidence to invest in clean energy projects in Massachusetts.
